On February 28, the first annual briefing of Samruk-Kazyna JSC for representatives of the diplomatic corps and international companies took place.
During the meeting, the top management of the Fund and the portfolio companies told about Transformation and privatization related activity and prospects for cooperation with transnational companies.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Fund’s Management Board Umirzak Shukeyev told about the first results of transformation processes.
“Opportunity to invest into the assets of Samruk-Kazyna group is unique because the Fund consolidates the largest enterprises in different industries. Transformation is precisely aimed at making these assets more attractive. Today Kazakhstan and Samruk-Kazyna’s assets are the reliable option for investments. For example, as to the easiness to conduct business, for the last two years Kazakhstan moved up from the 51st to the 35th place among 190 countries in the rating of the World Bank”.
Kazatomprom’s CEO Askar Zhumagaliyev told to the diplomats and foreign businessmen about the activity of the company and prospects for nuclear industry development. He highlighted the reliability of uranium as a source of energy which is the purest, most effective and environmentally sound. Under the IAEA’s forecasts, in the nearest future the number of atomic reactors is expected to grow.
“Kazakhstan possesses the largest uranium resources. Today we are the world’s leading uranium producer, covering, together with the partners, about 37% of the global nuclear power requirements. Our company has a 20-year experience of uranium export to different countries and is the leading supplier of uranium products to the USA, France and China,” said A. Zhumagaliyev.
Kazatomprom’s CEO also spoke about Transformation Program implementation, business diversification, cooperation with the largest international companies.
“Due to the policy of the Head of the State N. Nazarbayev, there is a favorable and attractive investment climate in Kazakhstan today. We will continue strengthening cooperation with our partners and we invite everyone to cooperate and participate in joint projects,” said A. Zhumagaliyev finalizing his speech.
